Quality Food and Drink Since 1960
The McCormack family have been in the business of providing quality food and drink since 1960 and prides itself on excellent, friendly customer service.
Having renovated the pub interiors and garden over the years gives a very cosy and luxurious, airy feeling when stepping inside. You can enjoy a chat by the fire with a pint in winter or spend time in our sunny garden with food during the summer months.
Our History
When Paddy and Brid McCormack relocated from Dublin City Centre to Mounttown in 1960 with their 7 children, they had a vision: they wanted to be part of the local neighbourhood. Nearly 70 years later, McCormack’s are still very much part of the fabric of Lower Mounttown Road and surrounding areas. Mounttown is a residential road nestled between Honeypark, Dun Laoghaire and Monkstown.
Paddy and Brid’s son Paddy has been serving customers all his life, he has been running the family pub since he took it over in 1976. We now have the third generation Patrick McCormack along with Paddy McCormack, looking after our customers and keeping the McCormack family values to the fore.
McCormack’s were one of the first pubs serving food in he 1980’s. We hosted launch parties for many well know people in the music industry (Paul Brady), book launches (Mike Hanrahan, Stockton’s Wing) and of course the very famous ‘Sally O’Brien and the Way she might look at you’ Harp Ad was filmed in McCormacks. Jerry Lee Lewis played and sang for over an hour in McCormacks, Mounttown, September 1993, at his 58th Birthday celebrations, joined by Paul Ashford and John Keogh; the house was rocking that night.
In the early days, we bottled and labelled the beer and whiskey too. A long and time-consuming process. We can now offer a range of IPA and Craft Beers from a variety of brewers, along with the traditional beers and ales, not forgetting our Zero Zero offering.
We have come a long way from bottling our beer, but the same ethos still prevails in McCormack’s: our loyalty to our customers and providing them with a comfortable place to eat and a hub for meeting friends and neighbours.
Our staff are extremely important to us; many staff members have had their whole career with us, hospitality is in their blood and being part of the McCormack family and its history is important to them.
Our exquisite paintings, sketches and photographs have been curated by Paddy over many years, most of our beautiful paintings are by Irish artists, creating an ambience of calm and peace.
Today McCormacks stands steadfast in its consistency and renowned hospitality within a world defined once again by revolutionary economic and political change. McCormacks has seen it all before and we prefer to concentrate on our tradition of excellence in serving our extensive local and international clientele with quality food and drink within an ambience of unrivalled hospitality and charm.
